There are moments when an ordinary life ends quietly.
No trumpets. No warning. No polite message from destiny asking whether you have time for an inconvenient adventure.
For Faybel Vala, that moment begins when the life she understands starts giving way to one she could never have imagined…a life of ancient magic, distant worlds, celestial secrets, and a war that has been waiting for her longer than she has been alive.
I’m thrilled to invite you aboard The Maiden’s Voyage, the first book in the Magitech Wars and the opening novel of the Akasha Realm Universe.
Where Magic and Technology Share the Same Stars
I have always loved fantasy. Give me dragons, ancient prophecies, forgotten bloodlines, strange creatures, and a little magic with rules nobody fully understands, and I am quite content.
I also love science fiction. Starships, alien worlds, impossible machines, and civilizations scattered across the cosmos have a way of making the imagination feel wonderfully small…and then daring it to grow.
So, naturally, I put them together.
In the Akasha Realm Universe, magic and technology are not enemies. They have evolved side by side, intertwined across worlds connected by ancient gateways. Elven kingdoms exist among the stars. Spellcraft hums through advanced machinery. Dragons are more than legends. And the fate of entire civilizations may depend upon a young woman who grew up believing she was merely human.
It is science fantasy in the fullest sense: mythic adventure on a galactic scale, anchored by characters whose fears, loyalties, losses, and choices matter more than any machine or prophecy.
Meet Faybel Vala
At the heart of The Maiden’s Voyage is Faybel, an eighteen-year-old farm girl raised on Earth, far from the empires, enemies, and expectations attached to her true identity.
She has not spent her life training to save kingdoms. She has not studied royal diplomacy, mastered cosmic politics, or prepared a stirring speech for the moment destiny arrives at her door.
Destiny, being destiny, arrives anyway.
As Faybel’s hidden abilities awaken, she is pulled into a widening conflict with Queen Lamia Morta, a ruthless Dragon Queen whose ambitions stretch across the Akasha Realm Universe. Faybel must discover where she came from, decide who she wishes to become, and learn whether courage means being unafraid…or taking the next step while fear is holding firmly to your ankle.
Along the way, she gathers an unlikely group of companions from strange and wondrous worlds. Some offer loyalty. Some carry secrets. Some may test the definition of “helpful” until it requires legal clarification.
Together, they face ancient dangers, powerful enemies, and truths capable of reshaping everything Faybel believes about herself.
Why I Wrote The Maiden’s Voyage
I wanted to write the sort of adventure I have always searched for: a story with the wonder of high fantasy, the vast horizon of space opera, the momentum of a cinematic quest, and enough wit to remind us that even the fate of the universe can be interrupted by inconvenient personalities.
But beneath the starships, magic, battles, and dragons, this is a story about identity.
Faybel stands between worlds. She is human and something more, ordinary and extraordinary, frightened and brave. Her journey is not simply about accepting a grand destiny. It is about deciding what parts of her inheritance deserve to shape her…and what kind of person she will choose to become.
That question matters to me because we all inherit stories about who we are supposed to be. From family. From history. From failure. From the expectations of people who may have written their plans for us long before we understood the language.
Yet inheritance is not the same as destiny.
The choices are still ours.
An Adventure for Readers Who Still Believe in Hope
The Akasha Realm Universe contains darkness, loss, war, and people who make catastrophically confident decisions. It also contains friendship, courage, humor, wonder, and the stubborn belief that a better future remains possible.
I do not believe hope makes a story less serious. Hope is serious. It asks characters to stand again after the universe has explained, at considerable volume, why they should remain on the ground.
The Maiden’s Voyage is for readers who enjoy:
- Epic science fantasy and space opera
- Magic woven into advanced technology
- Dragons, elves, starships, and alien worlds
- A young heroine discovering her hidden heritage
- Found family and unlikely alliances
- Cinematic action balanced with humor and heart
- Stories about choice, identity, courage, and hope
