Some projects begin with a clear plan. Others begin as a handful of notes, a stubborn draft, or the sense that something isn’t quite working yet. I enjoy helping people find the shape inside the idea.

I’m J.J. Hartly, a science-fantasy author, creative collaborator, and freelance writer. I work with authors, storytellers, and small businesses to develop writing and creative projects through thoughtful collaboration and practical support.

Words That Sound Like You

Good copy should fit both its purpose and the person behind it. I can help create or refine writing for your website, blog, products, and promotional materials, with attention to clarity, tone, and the people you want to reach.

Projects may include website and About page copy, blog posts and articles, product descriptions, social media content, promotional copy, and editing for clarity, flow, and consistency.

Stories and Ideas in Progress

A promising idea can be exciting—and hard to untangle alone. I bring a curious, collaborative perspective to story and project development, helping you explore possibilities, work through creative roadblocks, and decide what to do next.

We might brainstorm story ideas, develop characters and worlds, review a draft, outline the next steps, or explore how to present and promote your project.

Practical Creative Workflows

I use AI as a tool for planning, research, organization, and creative development. I don’t use it to write my stories. The ideas, decisions, and final work remain human-led.

I can help you develop prompts for specific tasks, organize a repeatable writing or content process, explore practical tools, or identify ways to make a creative workflow easier to manage.

A Collaborative Starting Point

Every project begins with a conversation about your goals, audience, scope, and timeline. From there, we can identify a useful next step and agree on an arrangement that fits the work.

Have an idea you’d like help shaping? Get in touch and tell me a little about what you’re working on.

I take on projects based on fit and availability. For writing or story collaborations, we’ll agree on scope, responsibilities, and credit before work begins.
