So, I did a thing… I was an Author-vendor at my first ever book event. On October 17th 2026, I had my booth setup at Books and Boos, hosted by Bookanooga, a book club in Chattanooga.
Of course, I’d hoped that attendees would buy my first ever published #sciencefantasy book, The Maiden’s Voyage: Magitech Wars Book 1, but I also brought my #dinopuppies as paint kits to the event.
Dinopuppies are collectible, paintable characters from the Akasha Realm Universe and are introduced in Book 2, tentatively titled The Crown’s Reckoning… which is already half done in draft form.
Well… Boxertops were my most popular seller of the day!
A hybrid of a boxer puppy and a triceratops, boxertops have a stout little body, a ‘you-gotta-love-me’ face with big eyes, and a frill spiked with small horns that made them irresistible to passerby.
It was a hoot and a holler to see so many people point and say ‘Awww, dinopuppies! How cute!’
Events like Bookanooga make me feel vindicated as an author. I got to tell so many new people about the Akasha Realm Universe and the planned books in my head. These are no longer just ideas in my head… they’re something readers and visitors to events can discover for themselves and enjoy my multiverse of stories and characters.
Thank you to everyone who visited my booth and gave my book and dinopuppies such a warm welcome to the real world.
